Todos estamos familiarizados con la creciente presencia, poder e influencia de la imagen digital en nuestras vidas: las redes sociales y el uso de nuestros teléfonos móviles (que se han convertido casi en el centro de nuestras vidas) hacen que permanezcamos constantemente conectados, pero irónicamente más aislados que nunca. Las fotografías ya no son utilizadas como recuerdos de algo o alguien sino que son usadas como mensajes. La fotografía perdió hace tiempo su solidez: tomamos fotografías y las compartimos en un instante. Selfboxes consta de dos cajas-burbuja unipersonales que nos invitan a reflexionar y a ser conscientes de un acto que se ha convertido en cotidiano: el selfie. Sus autores invitan al visitante a interactuar con la instalación abriéndole la posibilidad de adentrarse en las cajas-burbuja y tomarse un selfie para finalmente compartirlo en las redes con el hashtag #selfboxes.
De este modo, si bien la instalación es física, no se termina de comprender sin la presencia online de las imágenes que se gestarán durante la exposición.

We are all familiar with the growing presence, power and influence of the digital image in our lives: the social media and the use of our mobile phones (which have become almost the center of our lives) keep us constantly connected, but ironically more isolated than ever. The photographs are no longer used as memories of something or someone but are used as messages. Photography has lost its solidity: we take pictures and share them in an instant. Selfboxes consist of two one-person bubble-boxes that invite us to reflect and be aware of an act that has become ordinary: the selfie. The authors invite the visitor to interact with the installation, opening up the possibility of entering the bubble-boxes and taking a selfie to finally share it on the networks with the hashtag #selfboxes. In this way, although the installation is physical, it cannot be understood without the online presence of the images that will be created during the exhibition.
