Inhabiting the water
Ana Amado, Andrés Patiño

In an effort to make visible the colonization program of the National Institute of Colonization developed during Franco´s regime, an episode that meant one of the main internal migratory movements in twentieth century Spain, I have visited and photographed, along with the architect Andrés Patiño, more than 30 towns scattered throughout the Spanish hydrographic basins, documenting under a contemporary visual prism the footprint of architecture and the passage of time in these places. The result is included in an divulgative book, articulated in thematic blocks (socio-political context, hydraulic policy and the INC; propaganda, photography and architecture; the settlers; towns and maps) that combines our photographs and texts with those of relevant authors from trajectories related to the topic.
«Inhabiting the water» has been promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, and edited by Turner.
